Kapiti Chess Club is open to all ages and playing levels, and caters for both serious and social players.

We also have a programme for junior players, that includes coaching and casual games. This starts each week at 7:00pm, before the main event 7:30. This is a great way to learn or improve your game with experts, and have a bit of fun with other juniors.

A naked cake is easily recognised by its absent or minimal outer layer of frosting, which shows off the cake’s natural texture and filling. Some naked cakes have zero frosting on their outer edge, while others have just a wisp of buttercream (as illustrated). The cake for naked cake is most often white or yellow, although you can find naked cakes in every flavour from chocolate to funfetti.

About this workshop: Pastry chef Oscar will share her recipe for the most indulgent chocolate mud-cake ever. After making your cakes, she’ll then share her professional tips and tricks for stunning adornment in the ‘naked’ fashion and you’ll all ice your own cakes. All ingredients are included in the course fee and you’ll take home your stunning creation. Approximate cake size 10cm high and 16cm across.

The first rule of self-defence is if you can run then run…but you may not always have that choice or the choice has been made for you. Our workshops can be both physically and mentally demanding and take people out of their comfort zones real fast.

The instructor’s approach to rape defence is a realistic and honest one, he’s been teaching women’s self-defence for over 10 years, with rape defence playing a big part in any of the women’s workshops he runs.

Participants need to take along plenty to drink, something to snack on and a sweat towel. Comfortable clothing and footwear are advisable and a positive attitude to learn goes a long way.
